I have been living in Tahiti temporarily more than a year for work. It requires me to travel every at least 6 months to leave the French Polynesia to renew my papers visa, work permit etc.
My 2 previous flights were with United Airlines. I usually prefer flying with Star Alliance member companies as I am gold (elite) member by Turkish Airlines. It gives additional benefits like luggage, using the lounge etc. However this time the price in French bee was so competitive. While United displayed the ticket price more than $2000, I paid the ticket around $850 in French bee including extra 23kg baggage and meal even though it was only 5 days before than the flight. The ticket also includes the flight between LAX to SFO. When I check other companies like Delta, Air Tahiti Nui flying from SFO or LAX to Tahiti were also at least double of the price I paid.
Considering these pricing details what I paid was satisfactory. Let me note here, while writing this post I flown yet. After the flight I will update here or write a new post.
Tahiti flights of French bee starts in Orly airport in Paris, then stops in San Francisco for a technical stop and getting the new passengers then continues to Tahiti (PPT – Papeete).
Searching the flight and buying the ticket was easy. I like the website freenchbee.com. It is user friendly and easy to manage during research and purchase steps.
In my case I select the departure as Los Angeles instead of San Francisco. Saying that it should de remembered that there are also direct flights from LAX to Tahiti like Delta, Air Tahiti Nui. As I said before pricing difference was my main motivation to select the French bee even though I need an extra flight between LAX and SFO. The flight from LAX to SFO happened with Alaska Airlines which is a company I experienced first time.
My flight to Tahiti will happen in 2 hours. I will note the experiences before takeoff and during flight, and after landing. Let;s see how it will end up.
